Position Summary:

Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, the Sr. Director/Director, Applications Support is responsible for planning, development, enhancement and daily activity necessary to support in house and COTS software that support all of the major Clinical and Business Applications including Reporting Databases. The Sr. Director/Director will work closely with clinical and operations leadership & staff, technical professionals, and external partners to understand information needs and how existing or new systems can support those needs. The Sr. Director/Director will oversee and manage the daily functions and projects of the Applications. In addition (s)he will create opportunities for training, development and advancement for team members. This position will work closely with the CIO, other IT staff and key internal and external business stakeholders to complete objectives.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of software application operations.
  • Direct application integration.
  • Own communications and updates to business/brand stakeholders as well as executive leadership teams.
  • Drive the definition and adoption of enterprise reference architectures and development documentation standards.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of departmental functions with user areas and understands key business process flows in order to test from the user perspective.
  • Perform ultimate business user acceptance sign off on defects and enhancements.
  • Manage special technology projects and initiatives as assigned.
  • Ensure software solutions with demanding non-functional requirements such as security, single sign on, high availability, scalability, Service-Oriented/API governance, containers including virtualization and micro-services are developed and deployed in a timely and stable manner.
  • Demonstrate deep project and program management expertise.
  • Show exceptional business aptitude, strategic thinking and creative abilities that reflect a strong understanding of the industry and how users/customers interact with healthcare applications.
  • Collaborate with department members and/or other department teams to gain an understanding of the desired outcomes related to system/learning tutorials and on-line help.
  • Overall proficiency in computer software applications, including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Visio.
  • Ability to gather, analyze, and evaluate relevant information to understand requests and arrive at accurate solutions.
  • Ability to understand business needs and translate into system learning requirements for communication to others.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills necessary, with the ability to communicate complex ideas and information effectively, clearly, and completely.
  • Ability to work with others to achieve a common goal.
  • Ability to identify actions steps and resources needed to accomplish goals.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Candidate must have 10+ years healthcare information systems experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills required.
  • Quick learner, with effective problem solving skills, able to find solutions to new and complex issues.
  • Strong project management skills working with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Results oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple projects and issues.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment across multiple clinical and business units. 
  • Experience working with external vendors.
  • Strong working knowledge of healthcare and software application architecture. 
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Will be confident, articulate and literate, presenting him/herself as a professional at all times.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Constantly strives to please Client and learn new technologies.
  • Ability to balance business priorities with technical requirements.
  • Ability to interface with executive level management and give senior level presentations.
  • Must be self-motivated, disciplined, able to work on own initiative and take responsibility for own work.


  • BS degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or relevant field.
  • Additional certification in Microsoft, Linux, Cisco or similar technologies is a plus.
